Designing for mobile after desktop
Because in real life, mobile doesn’t always come first

Clarizen's project collaboration app long ago proved itself in the enterprise SaaS market. But it was built for the desktop, and customers demanded a mobile version. While ‘mobile first’ is critical in business today, it's not always possible.

In order to design the experience for mobile, the desktop app was assessed, and customers were interviewed to inform the mobile strategy, IA, and structure.

Flows were modelled as pencil sketches and then into working prototypes. Once the common patterns were defined, we were able to document the flows for scalability.

From prototypes, we moved into design, and eventually full design specification.

The final application released was no slouch; all functionality from the desktop app is available in the handheld version.
